I already know the damn answer, but i have to run it through a 'support forum' first to get full points so here goes:

"what does DV stand for?"

DV stands for an affordable and efficient way to create high-quality visual media that was once limited to only those who had access to expensive and complex analog video production equipment. It also stands somewhat for the democratization of visual media production (and distribution as well, thanks mostly to the internet) in that more people can realize a vision (provided that they have a compelling one in the first place). This is due not only to the greater degree of affordability of DV, but also to the relative ease and simplicity with which it can be shaped into a polished, tangible form of programming using readily available software, an ordinary home computer, and inexpensive peripherals such as a camcorder and a DVD burner.
