How are you guys mounting the FS-4's to your cameras? I don't like the "belt" method as I feel I may rip the cord off if I move too swiftly and forget it's tetherd to the camera.....what do you, "on-camera" guys do?

I use velcro to keep my FS4ProHDs on my XL-H1s, attaching to their wireless mic bracket. I also have the mount kit from Focus for the hotshoe - it's OK, but since the XL-H1 is already to front heavy to begin with, I didn't want to add more weight so far forward.

Colin, I went to FE website and found the link for the hot-shoe mount kit but no images were available- might you have a picture of that mount?

I don't have a picture handy (the cameras are at work, I'm at home) but take a look at:

Small pic, but you get the idea. It's a pretty simple kit - a little plastic bracket and a Bogen hotshoe mount. You have to specify whether you want a kit to work with the big battery or the small battery - they're not universal.

I tested the B&H link yesterday and it did not work, so I replaced it and it still did not work. I guess it was a problem with the B&H site, as it works now so give it a look!

I think everyone can use the belt clip. We are looking for on-camera mounts. And, I for one don't want to mount it on top such as the hot-shoe.

Focus are coming out with their FS Canon XL camera mount kit
(ASYF-1057-01) pretty soon. It sits on the accessory mount which comes with both the XLH1 and XLH2.

I recently did a little DIY exploration to mount my FS-4 to my tripod/camera. I wanted it to be in a convenient location so that I could operate it whilst filming. I'd attach pics, but my profile doesn't let me as of yet. Basically it uses a electrical conduit connector which grips the fluid head arms, 2 aluminum bars bent in a U shape which criss cross (this forms the arms to hold the unit), and a bit of wood which forms the platform. If you'd like, e-mail me and I can send you some pictures. I really like how it turned out. Cost close to nothing and is in a much more convenient location than the ones I've seen offered by B&H or Focus.

Haven't tried this - and it's a tad pricey - but it is another option (The Box):

It is a bit heavy but puts the Firestore on the correct side of the camera.

The BEC Group also make mounts for the Firestore units (see http://www.thebecgroup.com ). I have one of their brackets that mount to the Anton/Bauer accessory plates.
