Could anyone give me a list of the different Premiere versions.
I've used Pro 1.5, and I'm gonna try 2 soon.
What are 6 and 7 supposed to be? Are they more basic versions for "less experienced" users?

Okay I did some more searching around and found this:
Premiere 6.0
Premiere 6.5
Premiere Pro 1.0
Premiere Pro 1.5
Premiere Pro 2.0 (latest, just released last month Jan 2006)

There is no version 7. People called Premiere Pro 1.0 "version 7.0" for a while, but they were wrong. Adobe restarted the version numbers when they added "Pro" into the name, thus Pro (v1.0) comes after the last non-pro version (v6.5)

Get it? There is no version 7 of Premiere or Premiere Pro. There is only a version 7 of After Effects (which was just released in conjunction with Premiere Pro 2.0).

PPro 6 & 7 are just not the latest and greatest. Unless you are editing multiple cameras, there's no strong reason to upgrade.

In my opinion....

Thanks. I'm already using 1.5 just fine, it's amazing!

Calvin, thanks for the very kind words: "Get it? There is no version 7 of Premiere or Premiere Pro" - sounds like you just popped in to teach us all a strong lesson...

You are right, there in no version 7.0 as of now, BUT THERE WAS A VERSION 7.0!!! When Adobe first came out with this version, they called it 7.0 for a little while, then they renamed it Pro 1.0. Try a Google search just to make peace with yourself...

I stand corrected. If you're ready to edit in HDV you'll need the most recent version of PPro.
