I was trying to use stop motion suffering the usual jiggle of the tripod. I started looking for a LANC controller with zero luck. Then I got to thinking, "Is there a driver for the the IEEE1394?"

From what I have read researching this, LANC and Firewire have the same capabilities. Some of the LANC controllers have variable zoom memory sets, and can control aperature settings. That would solve a lot of the zoom problems that I have read so much about on this board. Virtually every function is controllable according to what I have read. Sony would never let slip the information needed to write a driver, but one of you guys is capable.

Anyone want to take a shot at it?

Have you scanned EBAY for a LANC controller?

Try Serious Magic’s DV Rack 2.0. It does stop motion via firewire and a whole lot more.
