I lost the windscreen for the ECM-NV1 (the OEM, original mic on the HRV-A1)... deep in briar patch
Any suggestions on a replacement windscreen... foam, fur or otherwise?

BH has a bunch of foam replacements that should work. Or just get it from sony.
PS I added the deadcat to mine, over the foamie thing, then looped a rubberband around both of them.

Right. I couldn't find a replacement through Sony though. Which size Deadcat are you using?

Rode Wind Muff - NTG-1/NTG-2
Mfr# DEADCAT • B&H# RODC
Seems to work pretty well, though stiff driving wind in mountains got to it. Handled 80% of the situations very well.
I had to giv it a bit of a shave on the underside as hairs could creep into the shot.
It's a little long (inch or so), but not enough to be a big issue. I used a rubberband to avoid it slipping off - over both the foam screen and the deadcat. Have to have the foam screen as theinside diameter is sized for it.
Well made
It was actually quite a curiousity where I travelled.

I love being a curiosity.
Wow, it's inexpensive too. Placed my order.
Thanks again,

How much does this improve noise reduction of wind? I live in an area that gets very windy in the fall/winter. I just received my camcorder last week so I haven't gotten a chance to really take it for a spin. I was going to pick up a light for it but this thing kinda intrigued me. :)

I'm have used something similar on an AKG Blue Line mic with my A1U. It is held on with a rubber band and works very well under most circumstances. It has also been the subject of quite a few curious comments.
