View Full Version : Need opinions on new company name.
Dylan Couper October 5th, 2006, 09:35 AM Hey guys and gals.
Starting another production company and trying to nail down the name I want. I've come to two:
Rogue Icon, Inc.
or
Rogue Legend, Inc.
Whaddaya think?
I may have to add Productions, Pictures, or Films at the end.
Mike Horrigan October 5th, 2006, 09:48 AM How about just Rogue Productions or Rogue Pictures? Already taken?
Just seems to flow better....
If not, Rogue Icon Productions has a nice ring to it.
Dylan Couper October 5th, 2006, 09:58 AM How about just Rogue Productions or Rogue Pictures? Already taken?
Already taken.
Sean McHenry October 5th, 2006, 10:38 AM Rogue Icon has an interesting religious overtone. Sort of a bad boy forgotten or ignored "God" figure perhaps, a Rogue Icon. Like an Angel gone slightly bad. Hey, what? You guys know I'm on the dark side of the road.
Of the two that gets my vote for the above. Perhaps "Fogotten Icon", "Lost Icon", "Hidden Icon"?
Sean
Keith Loh October 5th, 2006, 10:57 AM Icon is Mel Gibson's company. Just in case you thought there might be some confusion :)
Lorinda Norton October 5th, 2006, 11:03 AM Gotta keep the "rogue" part, Sean...I mean, we are talking about Dylan here. ;)
The only trouble I see with Rogue Icon is in the spoken form. Anyone else hear "Ro-guicon?" Because of that I like Rogue Legend a little better.
Meryem Ersoz October 5th, 2006, 12:20 PM rogue gain? oh, copyright issues, never mind...
William Gardner October 5th, 2006, 12:27 PM If not, Rogue Icon Productions has a nice ring to it.
Then you have R.I.P. Maybe good if you're focusing on horror flicks, but otherwise it could be interpreted as an early prediction of the quick demise of the company... :)

I find it ironic that you want to use the word Rogue (no longer obedient, belonging, or accepted and hence not controllable or answerable; deviating, renegade: a rogue cop; a rogue union local. ) and yet you want <EDIT> approval <EDIT> opinions? ;)
Michael Fossenkemper October 5th, 2006, 01:30 PM I like Rogue Icon Films Inc.
then we can call you Rifi for short.
Dylan Couper October 5th, 2006, 03:21 PM I find it ironic that you want to use the word Rogue (no longer obedient, belonging, or accepted and hence not controllable or answerable; deviating, renegade: a rogue cop; a rogue union local. ) and yet you want approval?
Good try...
But in my dictionary "opinion" and "approval" don't fall on the same page. :)
Lisa Shofner October 5th, 2006, 03:24 PM My vote is for Rogue Legend
Lorinda Norton October 5th, 2006, 04:40 PM Good try...
But in my dictionary "opinion" and "approval" don't fall on the same page. :)
LOL! You are such a rascal!
Which reminds me...picture our fair Dylan when you hear a common definition: a rascal; scoundrel (hah!); a fun-loving, mischievous person. Now, is Dylan the definitive rogue, or what? :)
Pete Bauer October 5th, 2006, 06:19 PM Do I dare ask in what genre this new company will be producing content?
Mike Teutsch October 5th, 2006, 07:12 PM Rogue Vision!
Mike
Ken Diewert October 6th, 2006, 12:32 AM I prefer Rogue Icon Film(s). I think... No maybe Rogue Legend... No, Rogue Icon... Yeah, Rogue Icon.
But Lorinda has a point about the 'Ro-guicon' thing.
It's a big thing isn't it. I know I went through h*ll, and sometimes I second guess myself http://www.cutlassfilm.com/beta but I've got so much invested in it now...
Michael Wisniewski October 6th, 2006, 09:09 AM I like Rogue Icon, but Rogue and Icon are already used by a couple of established film/production companies so it might cause confusion down the road.
Michael Wisniewski October 6th, 2006, 09:10 AM Here's a few more, and they're all 3 syllables so they slide of your tongue easily.
Rogue Image
Rogue Picture
Rogue Idol (my fave, even though it makes me think of American Idol)
Michael Wisniewski October 6th, 2006, 09:16 AM Rogue Figure
Dylan Couper October 6th, 2006, 10:55 AM Universal Paramount Films?
Oh wait, I'm making fun of my own thread. :)
Ken Diewert October 6th, 2006, 12:46 PM Universal Paramount Sony - UPS
Michael Fossenkemper October 7th, 2006, 02:22 AM I Personally like
Rolly Polly Productions
Benjamin Hill October 8th, 2006, 12:31 PM Rogue Media
Wes Coughlin October 8th, 2006, 03:14 PM R for Rogue
Rob Lohman October 9th, 2006, 07:58 AM D, for badass :)
Lorinda Norton October 9th, 2006, 10:55 AM LOL! That's the best one yet, Rob!!! :D
Dick Mays October 9th, 2006, 09:33 PM Rogue Artist
Dylan Couper October 12th, 2006, 11:30 AM D, for badass :)
LMAO!
Awesome Rob! :)
Thomas Arthur October 12th, 2006, 01:46 PM The word Rogue conjures up strong images--great for a film production company. For me, the problem is in the flow of syllables. The guh sound in Rogue is such a strong stopping point that it's difficult to find a word that flows easily from there. When I start playing with Rogue as the second word in a name, it's much easier to find flow.
Without much thought, the first thing that comes to mind is Rocket Rogue. I'm new here, so don't have much idea of the personality of your company. What do you want people to feel when they see/say your name? Another name pops up that I kinda like: Open Rogue Films.
word,
thomas
Benjamin Hill October 12th, 2006, 06:53 PM I should add that "Rogue" and "Icon" seem like fairly common name-words among indie filmmakers (try a Google search for Rogue Productions); so you might at least consider something less popular that carries similar meaning, like "Scoundrel" or "Rascal". Or "Troublemaker"- oh wait it looks like Robert Rodriguez took that one. Anyway, just my 2c from doing brand development work- good luck on the name quest.
Dylan Couper October 13th, 2006, 11:57 AM All valid points. I went with it anyway though, now I just have to come up with a logo.
Hmm... maybe I should make the next DVC about desining me a logo.... :)
Mike Teutsch October 13th, 2006, 12:11 PM de"sin"ing me a logo.... :)
Sounds Like you! :)
Rogues Gallery Productions?
Mike
Pete Bauer October 13th, 2006, 01:00 PM Which reminds me, Dylan never dared answer the "genre" question...
Dylan Couper October 13th, 2006, 01:29 PM Which reminds me, Dylan never dared answer the "genre" question...
One of my alternate names was "Chocolate Dipped Productions".... seriously... but not in a dirty way! ;)
Mike Teutsch October 13th, 2006, 01:54 PM One of my alternate names was "Chocolate Dipped Productions".... seriously... but not in a dirty way! ;)
Yah, Right!
Mike
Dylan Couper October 14th, 2006, 04:59 PM No one ever believes me.... (sniff)
:D
Adam Bray October 18th, 2006, 06:19 AM Rogue Motion Media
Dylan Couper October 18th, 2006, 12:46 PM Meant to move this to the business forum a while ago.
The deed is done, I'm officially Rogue Icon Inc, yay for me!
Mike Teutsch October 18th, 2006, 01:04 PM Dylan,
Yay for you indeed you rogue! Now, what will be the prize for de-sinning your logo? :)
Mike
Sean McHenry October 19th, 2006, 08:18 AM On the Chocolate thing, stay away from "Dipped in Chocolate"... DiC...
Yeah.
Sean
Brent Graham October 24th, 2006, 08:50 AM I'm late to the round table but...
Film Rogue
Media Rogue
Iconic Rogue
If you place Rogue at the end, you fix the 'tongue rolling' problems.
