Hi!
During the last days I red nearly all threads about recording XL H1's HD-SDI signal on the field. Result was that there was no practical solution until June (http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=69872).
But since September there might be another solution:
All Decklink cards can capture in the "better than HDV" Decklink codec named "Online JPEG".
Advantage: No RAID system required.
Can't we use an up-to-date laptop (fast processor) with a Expresscard-To-PCI adapter (like http://www.mobl.com/expansion/products/expresscard_expansion/1slot/index.html), a Decklink PCI-X card and achive a much better quality than HDV on the field?
Has anybody tested a system like this?
Will the system be able to compress and transfer the data fast enough?
What are your thoughts?
