We really would like to start a live production for our church. We are currently looking at the Tricaster Pro and 3 xl2's or dvx100's. Do we need any kind of signal booster from the cameras to the tricaster? The longest run will probably be around 500 feet. We have also are looking at some products from camplex (PRO-XC5) (http://www.camplex.com and click under products). Is there any thing else we need to consider getting (aside from tripods and video monitors) I would like to avoid the expense of the camplex products if they are not needed. Any help is appreciated.

Boy, must be nice to do this in such a rich church... I'm struggling to pull together the minimum for the same purpose.

We may have different views here, but I went the HD way, for now with a Z1U and someone loaning us an FX1 - no HD going on for the moment, but I didn't want to replace the cameras in a year or two when SD will be out and forgotten. Using any kind of analog signal processing you WILL LOOSE QUALITY no matter how you amplify and/or convert your signal. I decided to go with Firewire from the cameras to the switcher (don't have that yet, we're just doing live streaming, but it's coming soon). You can place a Datavideo DV Repeater every 60 feet and make it happen to up to 300 feet this way - without loosing anything.

You will need an intercom system... and probably many more, just start doing it and it'll all come together. Good luck!
