I can definitely NOT recommend the Birns & Sawyer shoulder mount. I bought one, and have hated it every moment.

I love my DVRIG Pro. You can search the archives at www.lafcpug.org or www.kenstone.net for my review. I am also very impressed with the DV MultiRig and might even consider that a better all-around product. You can also check out the photos of it in use with the HVX. I'm the middle-aged guy holding the HVX.

How about a rig like that for people with 35mm adapters and/or matteboxes? A support rig with integrated 15mm rods on the front would be perfect.

DVTEC who makes the DV Rig Pro also makes a QR plate/rod adapter which should easily allow use of any 35mm lens adapter w/mattebox. They've got a well thought-out system in place.

To be fair, Scott, I'm sorry our shoulder mount didn't work for you.....We have sold many of our 2 handle and 1 handle shoulder mounts over the years and your reaction is in a very small minority....not everything works for everyone.

I'd love to second this one but it's not yet released. I do own the Zacuto system and plan to try this when it becomes available; it is however significanlty more expensive than the DV Rig Pro, especially if you don't already own the Zacuto Base Plate as the starter.

However let me say this to anyone considering getting a rail/accessory system for their HVX - or any other DV form-factor camera: By far, the Zacuto system is the most versatile and configurable of any system currently on the market. You can literally make it as simple or complex as you need it to be and, with add-on's like the upcoming camera support system, there will always be new things you can add on to it.

Did I mention they are in the beta phase of their own 35mm lens adapter system? Once that becomes available, they will literally have the market cornered on the most complete, well thought out and bulletproof camera-accessory packages, period.

My 2 cents.

I went to Chicago for that Sony XDCAM HD/Apple seminar last month, and it was very cool. That night I ended up at a local documentary film festival, and Zacuto was there in full force, with several fully pimped-out HVX200 packages. Their stuff is beautifully designed and well thought out. I want one of everything they make!
