I am realy torn between the Rode/Senn debate on which one is used for which purpose. I don't mind if I have to buy one for each but which one. Should I buy the Senn with different modules for each purpose or buy the Rode for outdoors and the Senn for indoors or vice versa.
Please help me make my decision so I can complete my camera kit and starting shooting. I am so confused.....:-)

Thanks...........JD

It's not so much a Rode/Sennheiser debate as it is choosing the optimum mic type for the environment. Shotguns tend to be good for in non-reflective environments such as outdoors or in a treated studio or soundstage but are more limited in normal indoor situations while hypers are good both indoors and out but with slightly less "reach", shorter working distance, than a shotgun. Both Rode and Senn make both hypers and shotguns, as do Audio Technica and AKG (an others as well) and all of them are good brands. The first thing I suggest you do is think about the type of projects you want to work on and the shooting style that will have you using - from there you can begin to come up with a list of priorities to work from.
