Hi there,
Does anyone know of a way to record in VCR mode with the MX500? I want to print video to tape and find this would be the easiest. BTW I'm trying to find my manual right now incase it's in there :P

If you can't find your manual, you can always download a new one and print it out from here:

Thanks for that Frank, I'll check it out. One more thing, I lost my remote for my camera and I won't be back in NZ for a year or so. Is the remote for the DV982 or whatever it is the same?

No. It's not the same. The PV-DV953 might be the same as the MX5000 remote, though. I don't know if these would be the same as the one with the PAL version. Why not order a new one from here?

I have yet to discover how I can record in VCR mode on my MX350 without the remote!
The infra-red remote is the same for my previous MX8, my current MX350, the MX300 and the MX500. I guess it could be the same for most Panasonic cams of the same era, namely the last 2 years. That will cut their cost on production down.
On this matter, anyone knows how to record in VCR mode without the remote control?

Hi, Yow.
From what I remember, scouring the Internet & reading lots of stuff about the MX300(0),
you actually need the remote to start the DV tape recording in VCR mode.
If you don't have a remote handy, the Panasonic tripod plug in will do. Have you seen one of these Panasonic tripods in Singapore?
Too bad we don't have on board record buttons for VCR recording, like Sony consumer cams.
That's why I always carry my remote in my cam bag. Along with the video / audio cables.
