i've been playing around hc1 for while..
i found that photo mode actually use 1920x1080. pixel.frame is close to 24i or p?
try it on your HDTV it will look diffrent than video mode.there's more contrast and higher resoloution. it look like super 16mmfilm

Are you sure about this?
I tried capturing video like this by sending it out live from the camera as uncompressed SD and captured it as an uncompressed file and it was interlaced.
I will try this again and see what I come up with.
I just captured a uncompressed SD video live from the HC1 through component and it is interlaced. I cannot figure out why it is so jerky when viewed on my HDTV. I think it is doubling the fields but still sending it out as interlaced. I watched the video frame by frame in After Effects and so far it seems like each field gets played twice making this sort of a 15i video.

It is closer to 30p from what I can tell. When I captured the video as 30p and move through it frame by frame it updates on each frame so it is not 24p.

With the PAL version it is closer to 25p... But this mode is auto and you can't control the shutter and/or aperture.

You cannot record in this mode either. All you can do is watch it hooked up to a HDTV. You could capture it live into a desktop computer setup for uncompressed HD but that really limits you.
