Hi everyone,

I am doing music videos for living, low budget (using my vx2100).
Usually im renting stuff, but...
I am thinking of moving to HDV in January hopefully, so my question is:

With a budget around 12000 (taking a credit anyway, may be more), what should I get?

Camera:
I am going to continue shooting music videos. In very different environments.
Day, night, natural light, lights set up, etc etc. So I need a machine for everything.
Im interested in RED, but I have no idea how much money will I need total,
will it be over $30000 for all the stuff? body, lenses, storage, new computer?or what?

So, if not RED, what should i consider buying? Canon, Sony, Panasonic, JVC? Something else maybe? What are the pros and cons?

35mm adapter (a GOOD one)

Rig (rods, follow focus, oncamera lcd, what else?)

How much would stuff cost, and what should I buy?
Thanks in advance

Ivan,

If you HAVE to buy a camera, etc., right now, budget under $12K, get the Panasonic HVX100. The RED camera, as neat as it sounds, does not exist as a product you can buy yet, it is in development.

The HVX is the "swiss army knife" of cameras under 10K, IMO. Especially for indie music videos. You can find all those accessories like rods, rigs and 35mm kits, just search these boards.

Since both HDV and P2 both are relatively new, with uncertain futures, I myself am going to hang on to my DVX100 and rent bigger format cameras as needed.
