I must say, it certainly makes my HC3 look like an expensive toy.... :(Well I was ordering one anyone but I must say i am most impressed with these video samples (specially knwoing they are heavily MPEG and Quicktime compressed). Amazing stuff!!! Truly amazing stuff!

The detail in shots like the one below look unpleasantly blurry to me, with significant CA as expected from an inexpensive lens:

I haven't looked at the video samples yet, but I wouldn't hope for much better from them.

Looks like the auto settings were used and it was a particularly bright day. I also noticed my HC3 tends to over expose things if left to its own devices.

I use the AE Shift option to drop it down a couple of notches, the HV10 might have a similar feature.

I haven't looked at the video samples yet, but I wouldn't hope for much better from them.These images are extremely over exposed accounting for a large part of the CA. I've seen other samples under similar circumstances from many other cameras (including the XL-H1 by the way) and they look just as bad.

This said, however, I do not indeed expect this lens to be of extremelly high quality. Though its marketed as an "HD lens designed to match the HV10's high-def capabilities" bla, bla, bla, the truth of the matter is this lens is an old design, already previousely used in other cameras (all SD) like the DC40, Dv20 and DC10 for example:

So, this lens was made ofr SD machines, not HD. Canon is just recycling the lens on the HV10. It will be sirely an OK lens, not great and definitely not a new "design"!

Well I doubt it is the same lens. For starters is has Optical image stabilization wereas the others you mentioned are electronic image stabilization. I expect this lens has the lens shift image stailization which is an integral part of the lens grouping.

I don't trust images posted on the web. I'll wait to shoot my own video and watch it on a 100" diagonal screen on my Optoma H79 720p projector and see how it looks.

video sample looks very impressive.
some of the wide scenic shot looked very close to hc1 but girl DOF shot looked very filmish .

Why couldn't they post the original unprocessed HDV (m2t) footage???

In Video Alpha magazine article, it is said that this camera optically achieved 800 horizantal lines with the sepcial lenz.

I'm debating SR60 or this for the sub camera.

Also do you know the achieved horizontal lines for the Canon XL H1? And also Sony FX1 and HC1?
