Just got my Conroe E6700 processor and MB in and couldn't wait to see what it did for AspectHD.

WOW!

I went from taking 6 minutes to translate a .m2t file to a Cineform file to 2.10 minutes!

Anybody looking for a new PC should defenitely look at this chip!

Best regards,

Stacy

Stacy, congrats on the new rocket system. What are you comparing it against?

Conroe is absolutely awesome - it's also a great machine for Prospect HD. And Woodcrest-based systems, which are essentially two Conroe's - well, it's pretty spectatular....

I'm almost embarassed to say my old machine was a P4 2.4GHz (overclocked to 2.8 so that I could even run Cineform!).

I also added a 2x320GB RAID 0 for better drive performance.

I am testing with a dual woodcrest 3.0 Ghz with windows X64 and 15K sas drives. You can see my results for a PPro2 benchmark test at

(Got the fastest time yet. :o) )

This was a great package put together since I was able to compare OS types, memory sizes, etc to get the max results. Would be cool if there was a cineform benchmark package that we could run also to tune our systems.

Internally we have a performance benchmark that allows us to characterize machine performance. We run it each time we get a new machine for evaluation. We have also talked about releasing it for exactly the reason you state. But in order to do so we need to put a proper installer together and a few other things. So, it's on the list, but new features tend to get priority over the benchmark. We'll try to get to it....
