Would you hire this guy to be a reporter?

In a word. No. Is he lisping intentionally? It sounds that way. Look is fine, but reporting isn't about what the person looks like as long as they aren't slobs, it's about how they can communicate the news in a 'standard' voice.

heck ya, i'd hire him in a sec. I actually enjoyed watching him even though I understood almost nothing of what he was saying. News is boring anyways, at least he was fun to watch.

hmm, two contrasting, but good points

I wouldn't hire him for a second, it sounds like a joke!

So that's one for hiring, two against.

Well, the fact is... it was just a comedy bit.

Steve Sampson is just a character based on a guy I used to work in radio with. BTW Jacob, I am a former award winning radio news reporter. Yes the Sampson voice was fake. You can hear my real voice in this clip. (Oh yeah, the beard and hair was fake too, as was the background and the handheld prop mic, and the story.)

Haha, I thought it was real until I realized almost every word had an 's' in it. Nice work!

Umm, is that a picture behind him?

Yes, it is a still frame taken during a quiet time around the VAB (during missions, it is a madhouse with a full parking lot). And the astronaut name is made up, too.

Very funny, It looked like one of the "live" backgrounds on the daily show. This would have fit in nicely on that program.

I'd hire him as a dishwasher 'cause as a reporter or a comedian(or comic) he'd starve. I only hope that news reporting or comedy are not his passions in life.

Yeah... but how do you really feel?

Listen to an old Cheech & Chong bit called "Wake Up America." Sounds exactly like this.

John,

I can't remember that bit very well. Was that the one with "Herendo Revolver" or something like that name?

Yes. It's on "Cheech & Chong's Wedding Album," 1974.
