Has anyone had any experience with the citi-disk by shining.com? It's supposed to be compatible with the HVX, but I want to know if anyone has tried it.

I recall there was a lot of bad "press" abut Citidisk at one point. Robert Lane August 18th, 2006, 08:36 AM Mike, The quick answer is to stay away from the Citidisk. I did a ton of research and testing on devices like the Citidisk and Firestore (most of my findings I posted here many months ago) and the Citidisk couldn't even be tested because the company who makes it couldn't answer simple questions about it's operation or compatibility. Unlike it's competitors (Firestore, Cineporter, nNovia QC Drive) the Citidisk has no LCD panel to access it's internal menu, it has no pre-record buffer (although the company has conflicting information about this) and is has zero shock resistance (again, conflicting information abounds from Shining about this). If you need an external device for your HVX and the PowerBook or MacBook Pro solutions don't work for you, then I'd stick with either the nNovia QC Drive or the upcoming Cineporter (pending reliability testing). |
