Hey everyone,

For those of you interested in the film, the Japanese version of his movie just had a trailer released which can be viewed here (http://wwws.warnerbros.co.jp/iwojima-movies/trailer/large.html). The U.S. version of the movie has had the trailer's release date set back to sometime in mid-September.

Also, there is a movie poster (http://images.usatoday.com/life/_photos/2006/08/02/flags-large.jpg) now available for the American version of the movie.

I've read the Flags of Our Fathers book and it was pretty mild as far as the action goes, but so far, the trailer for the movie seems to tell differently.

Anyways, I'm very excited for the release of this movie. :)

Why the heck?

According to IMDB...this film is about the six men who raised the flag on Mount Suribachi in Iwo Jima[Among them Marines and a Navy Corpsman].

Viewing the japanese trailer, it makes it look the film is from the Japanese point of view. Is it? I haven't read the book obviously.

Interesting how they market films overseas.

I sure hope this isn't the same Cliint Eastwood that made "Heartbreak Ridge" but the Clint Eastwood that did "A Perfect World", "Million Dollar Baby" and "Unforgiven".

P.S.

Wait a minute...there is a companion piece to this film..."Red Sun, Black Sand"--so that is what the trailer is about..

I thought I pointed out that it was the Japanese version of the trailer...perhaps I could have been more specific -- it's the accompaniment movie to Flags of Our Fathers, told from the Japanese perspective.

The movie, however, is going be released in the U.S. at some time following the release of FOOF.

I like the concept of the two films released side by side.

However I'm in the solid minority in not being blown away by Clint's recent successes. "Unforgiven", "Million Dollar Baby". They all left me cold.

But being a war movie fan of course I want to see a movie about Iwo Jima.
