USB2.0 capture unit specs:
(1) Convert NTSC color signal imto 10 bit digital one and process it by digital decoder, then transfer it directly to PC via USB2.0 interface without data compression.
(2) Input signal is applicable to the following:- NTSC (M., Japan, 4.43)
(3) YUV: High speed transfer of 16 bit data and output of RGB 24 bit data through SSE2 applicable driver.
(4) Frame rate is 29 fps without data compression on NTSC data input. (Thus is high standard design applicable for medecal use as well as for image measurement.)
(5) PS170, CCIR Signal Use & RAW data output function.
(6) Windows 2000/XP is only applicable.
(7) USB2.0 bulk data transfer at 324 Mbps.
(8) Dimentions : 50 X 50 X 45 mm (excluding connector and projection part)

They have full packages with monitors and flexible arms and so forth...

I wonder what could be the price...

Am I missing something here? Isn't this doing the same thing as running the video/image via firewire or other cable, into a monitor?

I think it's very much webcam with usb link to pc. Just mount to FV makes it special.

Not much use. I think its good for photographers in the studio where looking at a small view finder may be tiring.

I think most photogs using digital cameras are feeding into a PC with a monitor already. My Rebel has software for doing remote capture and preview through the firewire to USB port. Granted, those cables are anywhere from $20 to $50 a pop, but it still has to be more cost effective than a special camera for your camera. I could see it for the old film cameras, but that is about it.

Most DSLRs cann`t do live preview as mirror blocks the sensor - Single Lens Reflex digital or not the only option for live (pre)view is optical viewfinder. then again Olympus E series can do it but you`ll have shutter lag.

I`ve seen those minicams on SLR VF only in stop motion studios where live preview on computer is essential for capturing perfect motion sequences. One was used even in capturing Corpse Pride.
