Hello ALL:
I am faced with a choice among the HVX200, the HD100 (or 110) and, soon enough, the HD200. I guess with the decision between brands, I’m trying to pick the lesser of two evils (massive pixel shift or MPEG2). Between the two JVCs, it’s mostly an issue of whether the promise of 720/60p is worth a $2000 difference in price. I figure the HVX will wind up costing about as much as the HD200 after I tack on P2 cards and a storage deck.
I’m going to be using whatever camera I buy for a variety of shoots – music videos, live music performances, probably some doc-style assignments (maybe in nasty weather) and, lastly, for some personal shorts.
I guess the smart thing to do would be to buy a camera geared toward my work and tailor my personal projects accordingly, but it’s likely I’ll end up doing the opposite.
Can anyone offer me help on what to do here?
Can you see much artifacting in fast pans or tracks with the JVC?
How well does the 480/60p of the HD100 upconvert?
Will SD blend well next to HDV or is the difference very noticeable?
And what camera gives better color in the final product?
Any info or advice is appreciated. Thanks.
