Hello,

I was looking over the spec's on the new Mac Pro and saw that Apple mentioned FCP 5.2.1 in one of their charts - screen grab here:

http://www.thisis24p.com/fcp.html

Is that a mistake (and they meant 5.1.1, which is what I have on my MacBookPro), or is this something that's out now or soon to be? I did a software update on my G5 and MacBook Pro and I could only see 5.1.1 being the latest version. I figure they may announce it sooner or later to accommodate the new Mac Pro's (guessing)???

Anyone know?

I wouldn't doubt if you see that update this week during the conference. They seem to do this a lot. It's not worthy of a mention in the keynote, but they put it out the same week. Kind of like the new pricing for the Displays...

I noticed this too. Hope it's not a typo.

5.1.2 would be better. I'd hate to have to pay just to get canon 24f support. x.x updates have been paid updates whereas x.x.x are free.

Compressor 2.3 and QuickTime 7.1.3 have just been made available for download. can FCP 5.1.2 be far behind?

Apple announced 5.1.2 Monday. Availability "about a month" :-)

Apple really didn't make any official announcement. They just let their show reps speak informally. I imagine they'll keep their word, but for the time being I'd consider the current situation to be "fluid" at best.

I was told I could tell FCP users that the update would be out in less than 30 days and would be free, provided no significant bugs are found. We had a beta on the Sony stand and it was perfectly stable. As Nate said it's kind of the unofficial - official line.

Yeah I noticed that B&H was selling the 30" for $1799- I couldn't help myself I picked one up.
