Can anyone in the UK recomend a dealer who can supply a Canon XL 1H.
I prefer to buy via the internet but dont want a GREY import as I want
full Canon support.

I'm still looking for a UK sponsor who would be "just right" for DV Info Net.
Meanwhile see this thread: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=73020

videokit.co.uk are by far the best in terms of reliability, service and price.
creativevideo.co.uk are also good. But I would go with videokit as they are genuine.

Picked mine up from creative video. I've had no problems so far, so I can't comment on their customer service.

I highly recommend Creative Video. They were exceptionally helpful in putting together a part-exchange deal on our old cameras for a new Canon H1, and when the factory-boxed camera they supplied had a fault on first powering up (Canon's fault, not Creative's) they were able to immediately replace it from their large stock.
The creativevideo.co.uk website is unparalleled for design and comprehensiveness in my opinion.
Cheers,
Ed

Many thanks for all your inputs.
I have checked out Creative Video, they seem to be a great company
and I hope to order my new camera soon.

I took a chance and got mine via eBay with a firm in Dundee - Digital-4-u - who imported direct from overseas (Hong Kong I think) and it saved me several hundred pounds, and took just over a week from order to delivery. UK Spec and manuals.
It works fine and came with a two year warranty. So far so good.
But as stated above it was a gamble.

Hi Rick
I contacted this company several weeks ago as they are only 60 miles from
my home and asked if I could COLLECT & PAY.
The reply they gave me was that they were drop sellers and only ordered
the camera from a third party after I had paid in full. VERY RISKY.
Also a camera imported from Hong Kong is not covered by Canon UK for
any repairs under warranty.
Best of luck and hope you dont have any problems.

I have bought a XLH1 from Digital-4-U, same as Rick, but I collected it from them, the camcorder is imported, made in Japan, at least, I am satisfied according to my own experience. They sold the camcorder to me with 2 year warranty, it is a MACK warranty, I have contacted MACK and got confirmed that the camcorder will be repaired in Canon UK if the camcorder goes wrong. So far, so good.
