Since Canon is using a new auto focus system on these new cameras do you think it may be able to autofocus much quicker when in 24F or 30F modes? Currently it samples the actual footage from the lens but the new system seems to be external. Being able to potentially use autofocus reliably in 24F would be a big plus.

Also....any confirmation that it will have focus and zoom display indicators in the viewfinder ala the H1? That is a big factor also.

Thanks!

Hi Marty, no way to know for sure how much faster it is (without just taking Canon's word for it) until these cameras actually start shipping and get into the hands of the first buyers. That will be around the late October time frame.

And yes both cams will have the 0-99 zoom guage and focus distance readout in meters or feet.

So are there any previous examples of this infrared "instafocus" in other vid cameras? I have faith in canon but "instafocus" seems a little too good to be true.
