Has anyone had this problem? It is a small spot, about the 2mm and it has a definite center and spread outward from there. I am wondering if anyone has a general idea of how much it will cost when I send it in to Canon repair shop.
By the way, it is on the standard lens (16x) that comes with the camera and the spot appears to be inside on the front layer of the glass.
Cheers!

When did you notice it? How long has it been there? Shape? Not seeing the spot, this may not apply, but if you just took the lens on a flight, it might be a temporary bubble in the VAP that should clear in a few days.
Sorry, I do not hve a feel for Canon lens repair prices.

Hi Don,
Thank for the suggestion, however the spot has been there for a while. Let's say about a year. I don't normally use the lens and I pulled it out to use it the other day and there it was. I will try to upload a photo if I can show the spot.
Cheers, Jon

Here is a photo...please excuse the dust / lint that the camera picked up when shooting the lens. I enlarged the fungus / mold spot and put it in the lower left corner. You can see the problem area has a star-like effect from the fungus / mold growth.
Hope this helps! Jon

Best bet may be to contact Canon service, see what they suggest.

This is a follow-up for the people reading the archives.
I finally sent my lens in for the fungus problem and Canon is replacing the front glass and the total bill is $270.61 (the new piece of glass is $66.72).
I hope this helps someone in the future!
Cheers, Jon
