Been on the boards for about a month or so and finally thought I'd post a quick and dirty Hola on the neighborhood thread. Just getting started as an honest to goodness production company on the small scale for event/wedding/corporate/real estate using a Sony A1U, Steadicam Merlin, Senn wireless, Rode boom, manfrotto sticks with 503 head and assorted other goodies. Editing on Vegas with Connect HD. Would love to meet other area gear heads to start a small local group with similar interests. Working out of a home office in the downtown area. Right now I'm spending the bulk of time prepping to go live in mid August. Lotta training going on learning how to fly the Merlin.

Cheers!

Greg,
As a fellow videographer in Louisville I just wanted to take a moment to say hello. I do event videography as well with 3 XH-A1 cams and Sony Vegas softwre. I don't know if you've seen the thread, but a few other videographers fromt the 'ville are thinking of forming a user group. We don't really have a support system or major video retailer in Louisville to got to and compare equipment, techniques, or software so a User group really makes sense. If your interested send me an email. ICVideo@bellsouth.net. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey guys! I'm a writer/producer/photographer/editor in the Creative Services & Marketing Department at WHAS11-TV. I would be interested in a local group as well. I'm close to pulling the trigger on my own equipment (Canon XL2, AVID Express Pro). It would be great to share ideas with some local folks.

Erica?? Don't know anyone by that name.

Are talking about Shawn Kaelin?? If so, then yeah, he's the assistant director of my department.

No,
I'm referring to the Benhams in Meade county. I grew up with some of them. Just thought you might know them.

Sorry, thought you meant here at WHAS11.

Does Shawn have a brother named Kelly??? I grew up with and went to school with Kelly Benham.

I would hang out at Shawn and Kelly's house all weekend. As for the Video group, getting people excited and together is 2 different things. I think the first meeting may be small(3-5 people), but hopefully grow from there.

It's a small world! Kelly and I graduated from high school together. We would bum around Old Weldon when we we're kids. I remember Shawn when he was little. Haven't seen him or their sister Michelle in years.

Hope this local group takes off. Here's my email: scott.benham@whas11.com

so did this group ever get off the ground?

It's still planned. Interest is there, it's just coordinating the first meeting. I just spoke with Doug Netherton who is the Vice President of Franchise Development for Flickos Video Workshop over off Heather Lane on Bardstown Road (near the old mega theater) about starting a local video group and he was somewhat receptive. There will be a group. Where and what will transpire is the question. If your still interested send me another email and I'll send out information in the next couple of weeks.

Radcliff? I was just there yesterday! Also in Bardstown, Loretto, etc., along with Elizabethtown and Louisville. Interesting area and I look forward to seeing it again next year. Could be late January—hope it’s not really cold! :)

hey all, louisville is cold right now...

anyway I have this for sale if anyone is interested and knows someone who would be....

Hey everyone,

First sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum…

However, as much as it frustrates me I must sell my Xh-a1. I don’t have the time I thought I would have right now in my life to have something this valuable and not be able to use it as much as I would like to. So with that said here is what I have for sale.
For Sale:
Everything I have is in MINT condition. It is perfect and I will provided pictures to show if a buyer is serious. And please only ask if you are serious.
Canon XH-A1 Seriously as brand new as you get used. I have had it out of the box and shot only 5 hours of video.
4 year extended warranty by Mack Camera. IT does transfer to new buyer
Libec Fluidhead Tripod with quick release plate
Tiffen protective filter.
Soft DV mattebox
Step ring for soft mattebox.
AT897 shotgun microphone
Right angle xlr cord for mic
Lightwave mini mount for shotgun mic.
Glidecam 2000 pro with arm brace
Spiderbrace shoulder mount
Includes original box and paperwork and accessories included that come with the xha1. BOUGHT FROM B&H PHOTO
NTSC version.

If you do the math this is a very good deal.
Im asking 3,590 for everything listed above.

These are the restrictions on the sale.

1. Must be sold within the United States.
2. Transaction must be maid through a reputable service such as Paypal. Sorry too much fraud going on these days with certified checks and such.
3. Shipping will only ship insured and details will be worked out with buyer.
Thanks

Trent

Better late than never!

Hi all just stumbled acorss this thread. I for one would be very interested in a Video group meet up! Is it still a possibility?

I have been doing event video for a couple of years now and just upgraded to a Canon XH-A1, would love to have a group to share tips and tricks with?

Let's do it, let me know how I could help!

Curt

looks like its been two months since the last post? Anything getting off the ground on this? I dont own my xha1 anymore sadly as I had to sell it due to it being hard to justify $4000-5000 in equipment sitting around not being used as much as I would like. Yes the day job takes most of my time and weekends just dont cut it for a hobby/side job that expensive. Plus anyone knows here shooting may be quick but editing takes the majority of the time, well because usually I am always tweaking stuff.

Anyway I dont have my camera still but I recently saw a Flicko's open up in middletown and they have an xha1 they rent out so I got interested in renting possibly again and shooting personal stuff or small business stuff on the side.

Im still interested in motion grahpics, editing, and filming in general so I would be interested if this does get up an going. Every once in a while you will see someone in louisville shooting with a dvx, a vx2100 or pd 150, or a xha1 or hvx and I always want to pull over and see what they are working on? Anyway if something works out let me know.

Hey everyone,

I have been on the search in the job market lately and am looking for just about anything really. I currently work for a Cultural Resource Managment firm out of Louisville but they've not had work in over a month and that just won't pay the bills. Sadly that job is what I went to college for. Now I am seaking a career in some sort of videography and though perhaps that someone who frequents this forum may know of a job or need a position filled theirselves.

Please email me at Sluggercitykings@yahoo.com

Thanks for reading and happy holidays.
-Terry.
