can anybody tell me why my titles imported as .psd files turn blurry when rendered in Final Cut and look terrible when outputted as a quicktime .mov but seem to look fine when output as an mpeg 2?I have tried .tiff and .jpeg as well but they still the same.
any thoughts appreciated

Here's a couple of quick things to check: Somtimes Quicktime files can be displayed at low quality, even though the .mov is a very high quality. Under "Show Movie Properties", highlight the "Video Track" and goto the "Visual Settings" tab. Check the "High Quality" checkbox and see if that makes everyting, including your titles look better.
Another possibility is that the title graphic may need to be nudged a pixel or 2. If the positioning of a graphic requires FCP to interpolate the position, it will sometimes render blurry. Nudging the graphic slightly will clear up that problem.
Don't know why the same sequence would look fine as mpeg-2, unless it's the High Quality checkbox thing.

If you own FCP, then you should have Quicktime Pro. The QT Pro license key is included.
