The Canon Lanc controller (ZR1000?) is really too expensive in Hong Kong (HK$1890) and I saw some 3rd party lanc controllers on the web. Will they work?
I tried the sony lanc controller (sold with the tripord for just HK$400) but it did not work?
I intended to use a lanc controller when I video theatre performances with tripod.
Can anyone help?

I've just bought myself a GIOTTOS UNIVERSAL LANC CAM CONTROLLER RC 2030 from eBay. Works with Sony and Canon (basically anything with a LANC port). £24.99 before p+p.

No Ebay links here please -- you can buy that controller from our sponsor, B&H. Thanks,

Hi Kenneth,
If your Cam came with an Infrared Remote (that can control the Zooming), have you considered setting it up to use ??? It can be done with FiberOptic cable. That way you can attach it to your T-Pod's control handle(s) or hold it free hand.
I've set all 4 of my Sony Cams up this way, in addition to using the Sony T-Pod's wired remote handles. On one T-Pod, I run custom made Dual Control Handles (extendable 2' to 4' ) with an Infrared Remote on each handle. Makes Video life much easier for me.

Yes! My XM1 does have a wireless remote control. I will try your method. Thanks!

Hi Harold
After some thought I have to ask you again. I am not very good at DIY stuff. Would you tell me in better detail the way to attach the fibre optic cables to the wireless control and the camera receiver?
