Is it possible to use a wireless mic on an xl1s and the stock canon mic at the same time? Any help would be apreciated thanks.

I don't know about the XL, but in my experiences, when using an external microphone, the camcorder's built-in mic is shut off by default. As far as I know, there is no way to record 2 separate audio tracks to a single tape that way.

The Canon XL-1S can record 4 channels of audio.
Use Channel 1+2 for the on-board stereo mic
Use Channel 3+4 or just 3, or 4 for your wirless.

You will need to switch into 12Bit (32kHz) mode for 4 channel audio.
Depending on your NLE, you may also need to to capture the audio in two passes.
