What did Hype Williams use to create the "video feedback" effect recently featured in Lil Jon's "Snap Yo Fingers" music video?

in after effects, i would key the footage, duplicate the keyed footage five or six times to their own layers, offset each layer by a couple of frames from each other, and, locking down the top layer as the actual footage, use the remaining layers as track mattes for some solid colors.

Oh, and heads up for anyone with epilepsy. You will have a seizure if you watch this video.

I think you can also do that with a plugin for AE from trapcode, the Echospace plugin. That wil sort of duplicate it for you, might save you some minutes.
