I am in the process of buying a Z1U from an individual and am needing help in finding how many hours have been used. I have researched here and online with no luck... how do I tell her how to get to that "status check" screen - that shows hours of operation, drum, tape, etc?
This forum has been an incredible help is narrowing down my search for a newer camera... and I still have so much to learn.
thanks,
Don

I don't have my Z1 here, but I think it's in the "others" menu. You may have to scroll down the menu because all of it doesn't fit on the screen IIRC. The FX1 doesn't allow access to this functiion at all though.

So it will help in knowing hours on the Z1, but not for an FX1? Thanks - that's good to know.

Yep, that's one of those features which Sony uses to differentiate their pro and consumer models. The PD-170, PDX-10 and HVR-A1 also have the hour meter but the VX-2100, TRV-950 and HDR-HC1 don't.

I'm interested in knowing how, and where one gets the Sony service remote.
Thanks,
