I'd like to learn as much as possible about my new camera and was wondering if there are any books or instructional DVD's out which are specifically written with the XL-H1 in mind. (I know that there is an instructional DVD on the XL2 by Salman but I don't know how close the two cameras are in terms of operational buttons, etc.) Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Patricia, the XL2 and XL H1 are pretty close at first glance in terms of buttons and menus and such, but the fact is that there is a *lot* more going on in the XL H1 than the XL2, so in my opinion an XL2 instructional DVD is going to leave you a little short of understanding the full capabilities of the XL H1.

Canon USA has a mini-site dedicated to the XL H1 with several very informative white papers describing various camera features; one in particular is a very good user's guide for the XL H1. Best of all, it's free. Check it out at this thread:

Hope this helps,

Thanks, Chris. I missed that thread and the information on Canon's site. It looks great.
