Shot with an XL2.
It was shot in about 40 minutes on my front step; it is a view of a rainy day from a localized perspective.
Rain was inspired by another post on this board, I hope you enjoy it.
Even if you do not please comment on it. :-)
Med-Res 8.5 Mb 2mins 12 secs.

Thank you, I tried rendering a MOV with no success in Adobe PP 1.5 I could get the correct aspect ratio but to get a descent looking clip the file size was huge. In Quick Time Pro I could get a good looking clip at a reasonable size, however it squashed the 16:9 format into 4:3 even though I had selected Maintain Aspect Ratio and selected Letterbox if necessary.
Maybe some day I will get this rendering thing down.

It worked fine for me with the Flip4mac plugin. Windows media files work much better through that plugin than they ever did natively.

Colors really popped and overall it looked really nice. Even the transitions were done pretty well.
That being said, I did not care for the choice of music at all. Nothing wrong with the music itsself, it just didn't seem to fit "rain" for me. Also, I would probably bring the ambient noise back just a bit and let the music stay more up front.
Last critique ... the change in focus from the grass to the leaf to the vine: I think it should have been a little faster between the items with a longer pause in focus between the sets (I hope that made sense???).
Would I watch it again? I am right now ;)
Would I watch another short by Hammel? You gotta post more. I like this type of short.
BTW, I usually just right click and "Save File As" when someone posts a direct link to a file here - no worries about streaming problems that way.

Marcus, Cannon and Chris,
I am sorry to reply so late, I just found the replies.
I usually come into DVI through the New Post Search link and missed your replies.
Sorry!
Marcus,
A little late but it is on the way. :-)
Cannon,
Thanks for the plug-in tip.
Chris,
Thank you for your frank critique, I appreciate the honesty.
Yes, you were clear and I wish it had done that transition a little faster.
One for the learning column.
Hmm another short… I have had requests for one for sunsets and for waves (seascapes) guess I gotta get busy!!
Thanks to all again,
Bill
