Right,

I am hopefully going to buy the HD110E HOWEVER I could potentially save £749/$1400 if I go for an Ex Demo / used JVC GY-HD100E, which JVC are offloading, now that new models are being introduced. Massive UK reseller CVP are selling them here: http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/public/view_item_cat.php?catalogue_number=used_jvc_gy-hd100e

I am quite happy to make this saving as the new improvements are not that essential for me. What I am concerned about is whether the Ex Demos will be more likely to have the problems users encountered with earlier models. They come with 12 month warranties but should I be concerned?

What are the main problems the first batch of cameras had? If I know I can possibly discuss this with CVP and see if they can offer any more information as to whether these cameras have been cleared on all fronts!

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris - We were one of the first to purchase the 101e from Phil Baxter (The Boss) at CVP - there was a software glitch with our first camera which Phil had replaced the next day... You are dealing with a "very good dealer" and they will not sell you a camera with problems. Some of the first cameras suffered split screen, dead pixels and software glitches that could cause problems when trying to record - sounds bad but really was not an issue as JVC were quick to sort it out. Phil is aware of those issues... Great little camera for the money. Mind and get some decent battery power.

Chris

I got my 101e from CVP, and have found them to be very helpful suppliers.

I also considered an ex demo, but decided against it as I wasn't sure how much 'abuse' these cameras are exposed to.

As far as I'm aware, the ex demos belong to JVC and are not CVP demo cameras. At least thats what I was told. Therefore CVP will not know what condition they are in.
