Hi all...new to the board.

Just a quick question. I have a job in a couple of days and they are using two of the JVC cameras (at this point I haven't even seen one let alone used one). I downloaded the manual and it appears that the camera has two channels of independently adjustable audio recording to some variation of Mpeg. Are these two mono channels, or are they two channels with left and right per channel. Also, is the quality of the audio capture to the camera good enough for using as the only audio source or should I look at another source as well? Any info appreciated.

Thanks.

you can record from two inputs so i would get a good mic and use it.

You can switch from mono and stereo

G'day Robert

You can switch from mono and stereo

So does that mean you have two mono channels that can both be switched to stereo, for effectively two lefts and two rights. Or two mono channels that can be panned left or right to create left and right?

Thanks.

It's a single channel of stereo, which you can use as 2 mono channels (though in playback directly off the tape channel 1 will be panned left and 2 panned right, this shouldn't be an issue for post of course).
