Yes I meant to add a thank you when I moved his thread from the XDCAM forum. I felt it was good for all camera users to see.

That is a cool chart - thanks for posting it. However I think the 35mm number is based on 35mm movie cameras. That's fine, but the numbers published in most prosumer camcorder specs compare the lenses to 35mm still camera equivalents, so caveat emptor. For exaple, the telephoto end of the zoom on my Z1 is 54mm which Sony says is equivalent to a 390mm lens for on a 35mm SLR. However that chart shows an 86mm lens with 1/3" chips being equivalent to a 400mm lens for a 35mm camera.

yep, those numbers are 35mm film lens, not 35mm photography lens...

That's a very useful chart, just too bad it doesn't include 1/4"
