View Full Version : Exposure problem with Z1

I just bought the HVR-Z1E a few days ago and although I haven’t really tried it yet I have encountered a very annoying problem with the iris! Whenever I set the exposure manually it changes it if I go from something very bright to something dark. I don’t understand why it keeps doing this! I set it while in manual mode and then switch it to hold but it still adjusts the iris! Have anyone else experienced this and is there a solution to this problem. It took me weeks to decide if I should go with JVC or Sony and I already feel I might have made a big mistake!

Does anybody know if it’s possible to return the camera even if it’s been registered in my name? Can that be undone?

Cheers

Andreas,

Welcome to DVInfo!

I think that you'll find that although you've set the exposure to Manual, that the gain or shutter or both are still in Auto mode. The camera is therefore still compensating for any exposure anomalies by changing these other settings.
If everything is in Manual you should see all the various values for Iris, Gain, Shutter displayed in the viewfinder.
You're not the first - or the last - to discover the minefield of Sony's settings!

I hate reading the manual!! I thought I knew the sony cameras! Ah well I guess I'd better start from page 1! :)

Thanx for the help
