I got to thinking that it would be possible to put two AAA batteries INSIDE the unit so that there is no ugly external box velcreod on the outside. I have tested this and it is possible to put two AAAs on either side behind the white lens nearest the camera without obstructing it...

Has anyone done this?

You can get 1250mAh lithium AAAs -about half the size of a AA. Quyen says the standard AAs will last all day so I guess you are probably looking at 3-4 hours on a single charge...
