On a short film set and have a borrowed HVX and a PC laptop. The owner of this equipment is also new to the camera and his workflow is just to copy the files from the P2 card and paste them onto an external hard drive on the laptop. So I've been doing this, but you can't view the footage from the laptop once it's transfered like this. So, is there a way so we can view this footage as it would be very helpful. If it makes any difference, the editor will be editing on a Mac with FCP. I don't want to do anything to the files that might mess that up.
Sorry for the basic question, but this camera was a last minute substitution and I got thrown into this job just b/c I had said I was considering buying the camera. So, I'm unprepaired and any help is greatly appreciated!

Go to the panasonic download page and download the free P2 Viewer program.

Thank you VERY MUCH!! Just downloaded the viewer and will install on the laptop when I get it back in a couple hours. Glad we had the day off today to check on this.
By the way, been enjoying your DVX book.

Thanks again!

Downloaded that viewer, but unless I'm wrong it only allows me to view media on the P2 cards, but not after the media has been dumped to a hard drive. Am I wrong? Is there a way to view the media once it has been dumped to a hard drive?
Thanks again for any help!

Yes, use to "Setting Virtual P2 Card" menu option to point to the directory where you copied the files, and it'll let you view the on-hard-disk copies exactly like if they were still on the cards.

Just wanted to say thank you very much for taking the time to help us out. We are all very relieved to see that the footage really is there and the crew said for me to tell you thank you!
