Hi again guys!

I just got done editing an engagement party last night. I rendered it to DVD spec using compressor.

The file was a 1hr 20min timeline w/ lots of editing. It was captured in HD 1280x720 using AIC.

It took about 7.5 hours to render using “90min BEST quality 2 pass”

Is this normal?

edited it add: Here are my specs.
FCP 5.1
Intel Imac 2Ghz DuoCore
2 GB RAM
256MB Video
500 GB Hard Disk

Funny thing about the time estimate is that it is not at all acurate.

I did some quick re-edits so I had to re-render the entire timeline.

7 hours into the process, it still said it had 8 hours to go, I thought this was strange because the first time only took 7.5 hours!

As soon as it hit the halfway mark, it started rendering the audio and it made up the final half in only 10 minutes! It was like my computer was on steroids, until I realized it was just doing the audio portion.

So it ended up taking the same amount time to render the timeline to DVD spec. Apple should fix the time approximation.

Only 8 Hours? Lucky dog... I ran a 55 minute wedding ceremony through compressor not too long ago and had it quote me 12-13 hours.

Then again, it actually finished in less than 8 hours (Don't know exactly. Started it when I went to bed, was finished when I woke up), so, yeah, they need to work on those estimates.

My 8 hour render initially quoted me 30 hours! Thank god it only took 8.
