I'm sure there's a real simple answer to this one...I just got a GL2 and was trying to get the gridlines to go on, but the gridlines option from the menu is always purple and can't be selected....I'm in frame mode by the way.
I'm sure that I'm not doing something right but I can't figure it out.

16 x 9 is disabled when the camera is in Easy Recording modus.
(when the recording program switch is in the green position)

The weird thing is that I'm not in easy mode (there isn't a green box), Im in Auto with Movie Mode/Frame on.
What I've noticed is that when 16x9 feature is on, you don't have access to the grid lines. The grid lines only go on when you turn OFF the 16x9 feature.

That's right Gil, the 16x9 guides are intended for the normal 4x3 mode only. They would be superfluous (unneccessary) in the 16x9 mode itself, since at that point you're already in 16x9.
The 16x9 guides are used to compose a 4x3 image for later cropping during postproduction into 16x9. Hope this helps,
