Yes I received mine last week. I purchased on the last day of the promo and sent everything in a few days after that. So I should have been almost at the end of the chain. Regardless, it was still way too long to wait. The promo made me decide to buy the camera before I was really ready and then I was unable to use it for anything but dinking around because of the ridiculous battery that came with it. So I had $5000 tied up for a couple of months in gear that I couldn't use. It really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Still waiting. I also got in on the last week at Tapeworks. I wish they'd just send me an A/B battery instead.

I should have my cam on Friday, and we'll see how long it takes. I took warning from you guys, and ordered an extra JVC to help until AB comes in.

My quess is that they've had a back order on the E7S batteries.
We needed more for our cameras and new Marshall HDA monitor (that nicely has an IDX V-mount on the back), but B&H has been out of stock for a while.

Fortunately I just found a couple new on eBay so we can run the jib this week.

I've been noticing a lot of "retired" AB and IDX batteries on ebay. What is it, instead of throwing it away, they ebay?

I wouldn't buy a used batt either, but apparently there are those who will try to sell them. They are pricey little buggers though. And to think how much I griped about the price of my BP945s!

im still waiting for my IDX promo to come in....i am owed 2 of them because I bought 2 cameras at the same time. JVC actually gave me a call and told me they would not have them in until the middle of june (now) and would send them out as soon as they came in. They offered me the A/B promo if i did not want to wait..the only thing is that i bought all the accessories for the IDX system 3 months ago and no way to return them now. I also have a wedding in 15 days to shoot....either the IDX comes in or i screw up a wedding. Not sure what to do either

Where are you located Alan? I could send you the stock battery that came with the HD100 and that would at least give you some extra time if the IDX doesn't arrive in time.

Yeah, but when you compare them to the big bricks at $300-400 they're not too bad. I like the fact the that E7s is actually 70WH where the 50s was 50WH.
And with half the draw of the 14v cameras who needs the bigger brick...you don't really need the Powerlink feature either. They're pretty ideal cost/weight/run-time for the IDX.

im located in Upland, CA....about 40 min outside of LA. Thanks for your offer but i dont want to burden anyone because it is JVC's fault. Im thinking of an alt option..(have them send me the A/B system and return it after the IDX comes in)..but that might be a long shot. Im pretty sure they want to keep their customers happy (considering the promo was a major player in my decision on the cameras and i am partial to Canon). 3 months is quite a time to wait and i haven't been able to use my cameras much at all. Thanks again

I bought about the same time as you and my battery and charger came 2 weeks ago. When I called and talked to JVC about it, they told me that they have close to 500 people awaiting shipments. IDX couldn't provide the kits in time to JVC. Carl Hicks monitors this board and he might be able to provide some info on where you battery kit is. He can call into the New Jersey office and find out where you stand.

I bought my camera from Texas Tapeworks and they were great in trying to help me get my kit. Jason even called me to give me a heads up that the kit was going to ship the next day.

Yours should arrive soon. Mine took over 2 months to arrive.

Good luck,

Dan Weber

yeah well it would have been fine if the system arrived in 2 months because that's when i expected it. Instead it's been 3 months and i figured they'd have it sent by the time my big projects started picking up...thats why i bought it so early.

Daniel, I bought from ZGC and they are down the road from JVC, but any help is welcome. If someone from JVC wants to email me go ahead and I'll send them the number of my voucher (it was sent in for me by zgc). I wanted to get it before my sons wedding on the 23rd, but I'm leaving VA on the 20th and wont be back till the 28th. I'm worried it will be sitting on the front step waiting to be stolen.

Note... I'm not shooting the wedding, but I plan on getting lots of video of all the family members attending beforehand. Both sides make up over 250 attending.

Kevin, I'll be in Boca not far from you. Do you have a store in case I need something?

Hey everyone....my IDX system came in today. That means it should be getting sent out to more of you guys that are still waiting. If it doesn't come in the next few days..just give JVC a call and let them know you are in a bind if you have a project. I did that and they were really nice, helpful and did what they could to send it out in time. Good luck to everyone

Before buying the HD100 my loyalty sat (and still greatly remains) with Sony when it comes to cameras, decks and monitors. I attended the JVC event in Chicago where Andrew Young and Steve Noe projected their HD100 to 35mm transfers. I've never been partial to JVC products but I was blown away by what I saw on screen. So I plunked down my money for a camera as I'm shooting a trailer for a feature this August. After assembling the camera I discover the mic is DOA. No biggie as I knew the mic was a toy before I purchased. So I chucked it into the trash--where it rightfully belongs--and installed a Sennheiser shotgun I had laying around. Other than the DOA mic, the camera works fine. I also considered buying three more cameras with decks for the TV station that I manage as I'm in need of replacing a 3-camera portable unit due to age.

I've been told several times that I would be receiving my battery soon. At the end of May I was called to be informed that there would be yet ANOTHER delay with IDX. I was told by JVC that the next shipment would not be until mid June. I was asked if the AB would be acceptable as a replacement. I very happily answered yes and was told that I would be receiving my AB the following week and that I could contact JVC for a tracking number, if I wished. The following week came and went. No battery. I contact JVC for a tracking number. No response. It is June 17 -- no IDX, no AB.

At this point I'm VERY SERIOUSLY considering selling my HD100 and returning to Sony.

Anyone interested in a barely used HD100?

I missed out on the IDX, but got in for the AB promo. When I ordered the cam, I also ordered an extra Dionic. Of course, when the order got here, I notice everything is there except the $400 battery. They were backordered, but showed up the next day, and on it's way to me. So the ABs aren't too far behind.

Oscar,
Sorry to hear about your troubles getting the battery system. I attended that same event, had the same reaction, and bought my HD100 about a month later. I bought it from an online vendor out of New Jersey (G&G Technologies) along with a case, rain cover, and tripod adapter. The gear came within ten days, and I immediately ordered the IDX battery kit. Then I forgot about it. My battery kit came a bit more than a month ago, just AFTER a shoot I had in early May.

I wonder if it matters what vendor you bought the camera from, since they have to verify the purchase too. In the meantime, couldn't you run the camera using the battery charger that came with it as an AC power converter, and 100 feet of extension cord? You're tethered, of course, but in some situations that isn't a stopper. That's what I did on the shoot in May.

BTW which Sennheiser did you use that was able to fit the mic holder. I tried an MKH415T and an ME80 with the K3-U power base, and they're both too slender. I think the ME66 is fatter, but I would expect the MKH416T to be too slim. If you used some kind of packing, what would you recommend?

Sorry to shift gears.

Stephen, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Have been off line. Thanks for the advice on the power cord. I've been wanting to shoot in Millenium Park, Chicago, so I really need the freedom of a battery.

Re: the mic, it is an ME-80 w/K3U mic amp. I neatly wrapped some gaffers tape around the base of the amp. In this config. the mic extends about six inches beyond the lens. If moving through a crowd I would place the base of the capsule into the HD-100 mic holder leaving the amp's control switches just behind the holder, this way the tip of the capsule extends just a couple of inches beyond the length of the lens. The diameter of the capsule is perfect for the holder. I made up an XLR to fit and power off the camera's +48V supply. If you like, I can take a still of it and post it. Won't be until 6/20, though.

Battery Update: FINALLY!!! Wife just called. The AB has been delivered! Thanks, JVC!

Hey guys, I just bought one of these batteries for my HD-100 to use on a shoot I am doing in Yosemite National Park at the end of the month, I will let you know how well it preforms compared to my ES-7 IDX since they are almost the same price.

Good news on the battery!

Thanks for the tip on the gaffer tape. I hadn't considered using it on the amp. And you are quite right, the barrel of the ME-80 is just right for the HD100 mic holder. It's diameter is a little larger than that of the amp. I should have tried that part.

I bought a couple of short 14" XLR cables online, which were made to order for camera mount XLR mics. They fit the HD100 better than they fit the Sony DXC cameras for which I originally bought them. However, it would be nice to know how you went about "making up" an xlr cable. And a pic would be nice if it isn't too much trouble.

This is off topic but here goes...way back in my Columbia College days did nothing but check and repair audio cable for the sound studio of the Film/Video Dept. for an entire semester. In order to make up a cable you must first have the parts necessary. I happened to have new connectors on hand. Used connectors in good condition will work fine. I took a piece of cable from one that had a break, checked it for continuity before soldering, soldered the new connectors on the cable ends then checked continuity on the connectors. I used the cheapest soldering kit and multi-meter Radio Shack has to offer. Process is quite easy but getting clean solder welds does take a little practice. For those of you willing to try, check continuity by setting your multi-meter to RX 1k ohms and place your leads on the appropriate pins. If you get a reading of "0" ohms you're good to go.

If anyone is interested in carrying self-assembled mic cabling any further than this post, I would suggest starting a new thread. I would be happy to oblige.

My IDX just showed up 5 minutes ago. I bought the last day from BHphoto and sent in my info a couple days later via priority mail.

It looks very cool. The battery is lighter than it looks. I'm gonna charge it up and see how long it lasts now. :-)

Since I purchased this battery I have not had a chance to run it to the end I can tell you so far it works great and charges fine on the IDX charger. it has already out lasted the IDX battery but by how much not sure just yet, one thing I really like is that it also has a power out pug on the side of the battery the IDX ES-7 dose not have this so I get a power out plug in, off the battery mount and off the battery to allowing me to power two things at once. This battery is a great deal at $215

This must be a US issue.

I ordered my 101e in the UK with a half price IDX promo offer, and actually the batteries arrived 2 days before the camera - this turned out to be a courier problem. I have 2 batteries, charger and mounting plate.

Bruce,

I ordered my HD100 from Tapeworks Texas on March 28th (delivered on the 31st) and I received my IDX kit on June 19th. If you haven't already, call the number on the IDX promotion certificate and JVC can make sure you're in their system and give you a status update.

Brian,

I ordered through Texas Tapeworks same time as you and I received my batteries the first week of June.

Call the NJ headquarters and ask for Mary Osborne, she was very helpful with my case. Also have your sales rep from Texas Tapeworks help you out. Jason was great to work with and he actually called and told me when the batteries were going to be shipping from JVC.

Good luck,
