Andrew asked how Liquid handled 24p.
My guess was that for each second of media, all 24 frames and 36 Repeat Flags were captured to a file. This meant the clip would have a 59.94fps timebase. And, it should mean that when 60p comes, it will be captured correctly. Likewise, 25p and 50p should fine. The Timebase is, as it should be, "auto-sensed" from the media. No need to rely on, or create, Capture Presets as FCP requires!
The input clips are auto-sensed as MPEG-2 and the MP2 audio is auto converted to a WAV during capture.
Once a clip is in a 23.98fps Sequence, I assumed Liquid would correctly ignore the Repeat Flags. Which means 25p, 50p, and 60p should work fine.
When creating a new Sequence, again Liquid does the smart thing. You can choose 720/25p or 720/29.97p HDV Presets.
If you choose "720/25p HDV" you then simply leave it at 25fps, or change the FPS to 24fps or 50fps.
If you choose "720/29.97p HDV" you then simply leave it at 29.97fps, or change the FPS to 23.98fps or 59.94fps. Now select Drop Frame.
You can also choose 1080/50i or 1080/59.94i HDV Presets.
If you choose "1080/50i HDV" you then simply leave it at 25fps, or change the FPS to 24fps.
If you choose "1080/59.94i HDV" you then simply leave it at 29.97fps, or change the FPS to 23.98fps. Now select Drop Frame.
And, no I haven't tried 24F from an H1. But, it since Liquid auto-senses the frame rate, it should capture a 23.98fps clip.
If you choose an HDV preset, you automatically get an MPEG-2 sequence. And, on export, the WAV audio is automatically converted back to MP2.
By the way, you can simply choose frame-size and fps and use uncompressed 4:2:2 if you wish.
Lastly, the Deko CG is miles ahead of FCP's Text Generator.
