My new HD100 will be on it's way soon. I just upgraded my PC with an AMD 3200 processor, 3 new 200 gig HDD for the raid 5, and Win XP so I can use the newer edit programs. But, since my Canopus DVStorm took a dump, I don't even have firewire support. So, now is my last chance to upgrade, but to what? I have about a grand to spend, and don't really want to dive into HD, as much as dip my toes and wade in.

The Liquid Pro setup comes with a breakout box that will I/O most connections, and it comes with Avid. While I really only have experience with Premiere, Avid seemed like a good choice in the market. Around $950.00

Matrox comes with Premiere Pro2. About the same price.

The Xena HS, about $600, no firewire, no edit program included, but I can upgrade to P.P.2 for $200.00.

Anybody have comments on the Liquid setup?

*If* you have a fast computer, Liquid is a good setup. I've worked with it a fair amount. It's not my fave NLE, but it's darn good, IMO.
If you can run Premiere fairly competently, you'll grasp Liquid fairly quickly.

Thanks Spot. Any issues with the breakout box? Why isn't liquid your favorite? Give me the dirt!
