These were shot over the past few months as I toured the U.S. in a 1973 VW bus. I threw these clips together for the VW community but thought I'd share them here as well. I put them together goofing around with MS Moviemaker. I'm currently working on a DVD tutorial for Premiere.

The general jist of this piece is a young father experiencing his own, sudden loss of life; his own. Everything we see is his own thoughts.

This is just a quick little thing me and my friends from the band The Spill Canvas put together for their fans. We made up the whole thing on the spot. The sun was going down so I white balanced on a light blue t-shirt to give it a sort of warm card look.

Anyway, nothing too exciting I just thought I would show it off.

John,

Well done... It's kind of hard to judge the cinematography because of the compression, but the whole thing has a surreal edge. Kind of a Jacobs Ladder sort of feel. I'd like to watch it again, but I find it a little disturbing... ahh! the power of the medium. But with a deceased father, and a son I play baseball with... maybe it's a little too close to home. I found the initial hospital follow shot to be eery.

If you hadn't given the 'jist' of the story, I would have been confused over what was happening but maybe that was just me.

Yup. Saw some of your great country. I traveled almost 11,000 miles in the bus and am currently editing a VW styled travel doc. Glad you enjoyed the vids. Cheers.

Hey everyone,

I was doing some cleaning the other day and came across some old props I had, so me and my friends put together short skit in about two hours. It came out pretty good. It’s called “Snitch”, and it’s a short film (about 3 minutes) about a little boy with a tattle problem, with an unexpected twist.

www.greenbench.tv/videos/Snitch.wmv

Enjoy, feedback is appreciated, although I’m more interested in the content than the quality.

Equipment Used:
DVX100B
Oktava
Lowel Light Kit

Thank you Ken

I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and remark on it. It was a personal piece for me as well and I confess a bit on the surreal side. In post it became much more 'spooky' (for lack of better word) as I cut it together

Thanks again !

Ok. I got this box in the mail. It had a hard drive in it with video. I was asked to try and make something of it using only what was on the drive. Its a mix of mostly video with some photos thrown in and shaken around to make it look more like video.

Here is the result...

I wish I had a better cut of the song. It is used with permission by the way. I don't like ending during vocals.

Comments welcome!

Hey Everyone,

I created a new short film "Cyn" for Steven Speilberg’s “On the Lot” and I had to do it from script to finished product in 6 days.
Done for well under $1000, Cyn brings together an amazing group of talented people. Without these remarkably talented friends and professionals,
Cyn would have never made it's 6 day schedule.

Check out the trailer: http://www.alittlecyn.com/trailer.html

Cyn is a trimmed down version of a longer script I created for my upcoming feature film project called “Red Princess Blues.”
As I developed the "Princess" short film I noticed that it had less and less in common with my characters and storyline from the feature project.

Friday: Write the script and prep the shoot

Saturday: Casting and prep the shoot; also begin working on opening titles & prep visual effects

Sunday: Rehearse, Fight Choreography and Production Design the location

Monday: Shoot day

Tuesday: Editing and color correction; begin scoring process, sound design & visual effects

Wednesday: finish scoring, sound design, composites of visual effects and master output.

Cyn was shot on the Panasonic HVX200 in HD 720p Native using four 8 gig P2 cards. This allowedme to have my assistant editor/cameraman
Ricky Pierre-Louis to download the footage on a Final Cut Pro editing system while still on set. The workflow was amazingly fast and the images were beautiful.
I wanted to give it a very unique look in post so we really pushed the limited of the camera and image.

Hi all,
This is the first time I have cut a reel together and it was hard as hell. I already see a lot I want to change and delete but I just wanted to get this far at least.
Please feel free to say anything about it and suggestions. I am more than open for critique.
Thanks!

Very, very nice. I liked the colors, the effects, the compositions, the music and the lighting. To me it looked absolutely professional. However I was wondering why such a professional video has these shaky / bucking sites!? I am especially thinking about the shots in the park, but there have also been some other shots.

Thanks for the comments guys. Keep em coming. The shaky shots were because I was shooting hand held with an adapter and rails on the camera and after a day of shooting your arm just can't keep it as steady as you want. I could stop the shake in post but I figured its not that bad. I did think about it though, maybe I will do it.

[...] I figured its not that bad. [...]

It's not bad at all - it is just some kind of contrast to the perfect looking rest of the vid. ;-)

Wow, that was cool!

I might have an opportunity to shoot out of one of these planes sometime in the next few months. How was it? Was it very hard to focus on the camera when you are up there in the air? I have never flown before, that is why I ask.

Cool stuff!

This short film is a project I helped my screenwriting partner's little sister shoot for her highschool film class. We shot the whole thing in two hours on DV (using the hvx though). I found out about an hour before shooting that one of the two main guys wasn't going to show up, so I ended up having to act in it myself! Since I didn't have any of the script memorized, AND I was trying to figure out how we were goign to shoot the whole thing before the sun went down, we decided to take talking points from the script and essentially improvise the entire thing.

It was a really fun afternoon, back in the mindset of highschool film making, where you weren't worried about perfect lighting, blown images, or even boom mics in the frame... it was about having a good time, and teaching these kids a little bit about film making.

So, that said, it's not the prettiest piece out there, but people really seem to love it, and I think it's pretty hilarious myself (watch through to the end, it goes in a completely different direction than you'll be ready for). I hope you enjoy it! (don't forget to leave comments and ratings on youtube, Id love to get this in front of more people).

Nick,

Like said before with your 20 min flight movie, Considering your time and effort
spent on tetsting your new XL ( congratulations ) utilising the test for
making an vehicle ad deserves a compliment.

I test my new cameras by shooting spiders and insects in the garden.

Your appetite for the industry as a 14 year old "moviemaker" will hopefully
inspire young and old.
