Has anybody tried the Icuiti video glasses? I just got a Sharper Image catalog in the mail and saw that they sell a pair of video glasses now. I was wondering if anybody had tried them yet? If so, do you think they would work well as a way to check images on the XL2? I like to shoot timelapse stuff and I have a bad habit of wanting to check the viewfinder during taping. This has caused a jiggle in the fottage as I keep touching the camera accidentaly when I look. I was originally thinking I would get an external LCD monitor but after seeing these glasses I was wondering if they would work better. I am thinking that the image may be better, as there would be no light shining on the screen with these. They have 920,000 pixel LCDs (640X480) so I know they won't be as good for 16:9 as a widescreen monitor for size accuracy. I assume they will horizontally squash the image. I don't think they would be suitable to wear for a whole shoot, just for checking out the action and setting focus etc.
They have the added benefit of having an adaptor available that will work with the video iPod.
Any thoughts?

I like the one eye version, it would be nice for flying a stabilization vest.

There is a one eye version too? Where do I find info on that type? Altough I do like the idea of the glasses for the ipod/portable DVD player.

Well, I went to Sharper Image at lunchtime and tried out the Icuiti glasses. I have to say they are not as good as they are cracked up to be. I tried them with a DVD that was hooked up to them. The image is small. I guess 42" at 7.5' translates to looking at the open XL2 viewfinder from about 4 or 5" The image is very pixellated looking so I don't think it could be used for focusing. The screen is definitely not as good as the video iPod's so using them with that will lower your quality and not gain much in the way of percieved size. Maybe a percieved size of a 4" iPod screen at a comfortable holding distance. I would say the quality is on a par with the 4" LCD TV I have already. The biggest advantage I could see was the fact that the screen doesn't suffer from sunlight falling on it like an ext LCD monitor would. Another advantage is the size and weight. I think both of these are far outweighed by the size and aspect ratio of a 7" or bigger LCD screen.
