Hi everyone. I'm a TV journalist, I work for the BBC in North-East England.

This weekend I begin a three-week course in videojournalism, run by an American called Michael Rosenblum. I'll be using a Sony PD150, and Avid Xpress DV 3.5. I'll then be using what I learn to make broadcast news items and documentaries.

I'm extremely excited about this, but it's nevertheless quite a daunting prospect, and I hope I can call on the experience of some of the people here should the need arise (which I'm sure it will!)

Cheers

Damian

....speaking of Michael Rosenblum, he came to our centre a few months ago to talk to journalists and tech ops about his vision for the future of videojournalism. It was the most inspirational experience of my professional life.... are any of you familiar with him and his work?

Hi Damien,

Sure, Michael Rosenblum... the father of video journalism! He happens to be one of our members here: see http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=60042

Interested parties, see also http://www.epnworld-reporter.com/news/archivestory.php/aid/193/How_To_Get_Ahead_In_Video_Journalism.html

He runs the DV Dojo in New York as well. http://www.dvdojo.com/

Welcome aboard! With a PD150 and Avid XpressDV, you are well-equipped to rise to the challenge of videojournalism. Looking forward to your input here, and keep us advised of how you're doing.

Many thanks for the reply and the welcome... I really should have done a bit more research before asking if you'd heard of Rosenblum...

a bit like posting a message on a Formula 1 board asking if anyone's come across this Michael Schumacher bloke...

I blame it on this rather nasty chest infection I've got. I look forward to posting here again once I'm into the course!

Cheers

Oh no, quite all right! I didn't know Michael was famous over there, so I'm really glad you brought him up.

All the best,
