I'm still getting glitches recording to my hard drive with the HVX200 connected to an old/new G4 15" laptop 1.5g of Ram 1.67g processor and FCP 5.0.4. using a Lacie FW 800 PC card from the camera connected to the laptop. I'm recording 720/24p and sometimes it stops recognizing the camera between shots. Then I have to shut down everything, boot it all back up and it is usually OK, for a while. Also when we record to the P2 cards (720/24pn) sometimes it won't recognize the cards when I download them to the laptop to a Maxtor firewire 300g 7200 drive. When we start shooting for real we will be using OWC Dual-Drive RAID FW800 500g HD's, but we are using the Maxtor for practice right now.

I did update the drivers today for the P2 cards using Shane Ross's link to the software on the forum here, so perhaps that will help with the P2 cards. http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bi...low/index.html

I followed Robert Lanes guide for hooking up the camera to the computer but there are still problems that I'd like to eliminate if I can. I bought the VAAST DVD by Gary Adcock but it isn't much help. I know that Barry Green is coming out with his book/CD/DVD? (Hurry Barry!) Sometime soon, but we start shooting for real on 6-6-06 and I need things to go more smoothly than they are going right now. . (I hope with that date that the devil isn't in the details on this one. : D) any links, help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

David

David,

Send me a PM and we'll exchange phone numbers. There's too many possible points of failure and things to check and it would be difficult to do it back and forth on the forum.
