I understand sony's current XDCAM models are the Sony XDCAM PDW-330 and Sony XDCAM PDW-350 but what is the Sony XDCAM PDW-530 and 550? b&h have the 550 listed at $32,000 and the unit has diffrent specs than the 350.

What is the Sony XDCAM PDW-530/550 line and where did it come from? I dont understand that model and dont see it listed anywhere on sony's cinealta site or XDCAM site.

Hi Mike,

I can't see a 550 on it. I take it you mean the 530 and 510? Those are the original XDCAM cameras, standard definition with 2/3" CCD's. The 350 and 330 are not replacements for the 510/530 cameras. They are just additions to the line.

The difference is HD. The PDW-330 and PDW-350 shoot in XDcam HD. The 530 and 510 shoot in regular SD XDcam.

EDIT- Simon, you typed that fast!
