Hi everyone.

I have had one of the Japanese GS-100 cams for about two years and it has been a good camera.. but in the past two weeks it has developed a problem. Intermittently, the image will break up into R,G, B and smear vertically up the screen. it goes away, then it will come back ... it happened today two times in about five minutes. I am very concerned. Nothing has happened to the camera (falls, spills, etc) . Anyone ever seen this? Any thoughts about where to take it/send it for repair?

Thanks

Kristin

Kristin,
Panasonic has issued a recall for certain PV-DV953 and GS200 camcorders in the US and Canada for failure of the CCD prism block. The symptoms are like you describe. They also issued a recall in Japan, and the GS100 was included. See this page from Panasonic.jp (http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=ja_en&trurl=http%3a%2f%2fpanasonic.jp%2fsupport%2fvideo%2ffaq%2fwb%2findex.html) For more information on the US and Canada, see this (http://www.pana3ccduser.com/showthread.php?t=5718). Since you aren't in Japan, I'm not sure how you would get your camcorder repaired.

This is very helpful (yet distressing) news. I guess i have learned a lesson about buying a camera from overseas.

Would Allan Rejoso be able to help out with this?
