For purchases between May 1st and June 30 from an authorized JVC Professional Reseller, contact your reseller to obtain a claim form. The authorized dealers were sent the form today, so your reseller should be able to provide it to you.

Follow the instructions on the form to file your claim.

what the difference between IDX and AB batteries? (power size etc)

Usually AB batteries are a lot more expensive. The main difference is that with the AB setup and Rev A cameras, you get Realtime display of remaining battery power in the viewfinder. The bad news is if you need another battery, you'd have to buy an expensive AB battery because many aftermarket batteries can not be charged on an AB charger. Not sure if this is ditto on the IDX charger.

Still, it's hard to complain when it's free so this is a pretty awesome deal. That's like lopping 20% right off the price. It is amazing that you get an HD camera, a lens and a pro battery package. The GY-DV5000U goes for about the same price and that's only the camera body! I hope they put this deal together for the HD200. Way to go JVC!

The Anton/Bauer is technically a better deal at first because it comes with a 90WH battery. The IDX promo came with a 71WH.

The drawback is most people are going to want at least 1 spare battery.

BHphotovideo.com sells the A/B Dionic 90WH for $399 while a spare IDX E7s 71WH battery is only $189.

It’s cheaper to purchase 2 spare IDX E7s batteries totaling 142WH vs. getting 1 A/B battery which only gives you 90WH.

The IDX is a better deal because the batteries are almost half the price.
If the promo didn't exist, I would still go with the IDX package.

And you still can purchase the IDX batteries. IDX sells an adapter plate which makes their batteries mount on 'three stud' systems. Not sure how well the A/B charger would work with those batteries.

For those of you awaiting your IDX Power Promo's, I have had word that IDX has shipped product to JVC which will soon be allocated prospectively.

As Carl Hicks with JVC noted, this Anton Bauer promotion is only valid if purchased from an Authorised JVC Pro Dealer (i.e. TapeWorks Texas Inc) Please remember that the Anton Bauer promotion is similar to the IDX promotion in that you will need to wait 6 - 8 weeks for the promotional products to be delivered. They are free, after all. In the meantime, while you are waiting for your promotional products to be delivered, it is advised to purchase addtional JVC BNV438U batteries for your camcorder which provide 30 to 45 min runtime on the GYHD100U.

I've noted that some of you reference pricing on products from other JVC Authorized dealers. Please remember that TapeWorks Texas Inc is an Authorized JVC Professional Dealer and our pricing is highly competative.
Both B&H and TapeWorks Texas Inc are sponsers for HDVinfo.net

If you have any questions pertaining to this promotion, you can contact TapeWorks Texas Inc Toll Free 866-827-3489 and speak with Jason or Scott.

The IDX batteries show the remaining voltage. The A/B batteries can show remaining time but isn't that calculation based on the voltage in the first place?

Hold your horses, some of us have been waiting months for the IDX promo to materialize. JVC's track record ain't so hot on these promos.

The included stock battery is joke by the way, I get 10-15 minutes of use out of it.

JVC's track record ain't so hot on these promos. It's not a JVC issue. It's an IDX issue. They are two separate companies. Fulfillment of the IDX battery promo is in the hands of IDX, not JVC.

Anybody know if is this a worldwide promo?Currently it is a U.S. promo.

Brian Luce

JVC offers it, they're advertising and using it as incentive to purchase their product, they're therefore culpable in every legal and ethical sense.

Steve Benner
May 25th, 2006, 08:34 AM
Both companies are to blame, but I have a feeling JVC switched the Promo to Anton Bauer because of reliability issues with IDX.

Brian Luce
May 25th, 2006, 08:38 AM
Agreed. My intent wasn't to absolve IDX of culpability. Both companies, as you say, deserve the criticism.

Jiri Bakala
May 25th, 2006, 08:45 AM
What reliability? I have had my IDX system for over 3 years on SONY DSR500 and now on the HD100 without any problems. IDX service is also excellent.

Brian Luce
May 25th, 2006, 09:56 AM
Jiri, I don't think anyone questions the quality of the actual IDX batteries--it's on the fulfillment side vis a vis the JVC promo that has put a blackmark on JVC and IDX.

Steve Benner
May 25th, 2006, 10:39 AM
That is correct. I meant no criticism of the product, but the distibution of the free promos to JVC. It just seems that JVC received so much bad feedback about delays, that it may be the reason for the switch.

Why do you think JVC switced to AB for this promo? IDX should get a clue.

Unfortunately I'm stuck with the IDX promo - so far they work great but as a company, their employees are rude and very unknowledgable. I've tested this at NAB and on the phone - they know nothing. Trust me.

Called B&H as I purchased the camera from them last week - they havent heard anything... and no, they wouldnt come to dvinfo forums to check Carl's post, but he did log on to JVC PRO website - it doesnt show anything about this promo... so I hung up as I felt like a telemarketing guy trying to trick them to send me free batteries...

so when is your website scheduled to be updated? - is there a press release or official promo like http://pro.jvc.com/pro/special/IDX/IDX.html this?

I just wanted to send the form as soon as possible - as I remember the IDX trainwreck clearly..

Anyway, it's up now:

Hey, Brian, Ram, Craig, and Gil: Looks like the message finally made its way up to the front lines at B&H. Here's my correspondence with them June 10-11:
_____________________________________________
Dear B&H,
I raced into your 9th Avenue store a couple weeks ago and very quickly purchased a JVC 24/ HDV Camcorder, the HD100UA. Today I read that there is a special offer out there from JVC giving away Anton-Bauer Power Packs to purchasers of this camera during May and June. I think I am eligible for this. Here where I saw the announcement...
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=68028
Can you let me know about this?
Many thanks,
Scott

Yes you do qualify. Attached should be the rebate pdf if not just download it off our site .
Thank you,

You can find the .pdf like this:

2. In the search window enter "GY-HD100UA"
3. At the top of the list is the camera, and it says "rebate available" under the price. Click on "rebate available" and you get the .pdf.
You can use this even if you did not buy your camera at B&H.

I just read that this form has to be at jvc on June 31st. I just bought my hd100s yesterday at bh and I have them by June 23 rd. The form asks for the serial number which I am guessing is only possible if I have the camera in my possession.

Does it look like there is enough time to get the rebate form to jvc?

I guess I could have it sent second day air or something like that.
I would be so sad if I missed this offer.

Jonathan,

From what I'm piecing together from this thread, you have nothing to worry about. The period for purchasing the camera ends June 30, but you have until July 31 to mail in the docs that prove you qualify. There is no June 31, so maybe you didn't see it right?
